We’ve all heard the phrase “Life isn’t fair.”
But it’s working people who typically bear the brunt of this unfairness – often at the hands of dishonest employers and big corporations.
My official title might be an employment and consumer lawyer…
But my calling is to be a warrior for the people.
I was fortunate to grow up with a loving and supportive family. My mother and father were passionate about treating people fairly and helping people who needed it.
My interest in the law began with being on my high school’s debate team, where I was awarded “All State Superior” at the Utah State debate tournament multiple years in a row. At the University of Utah, I received my degree in Political Science and then graduated from University of San Diego Law School, cum laude and Law Review, in 1986.
I began my law career as an associate at the premier San Diego firm, Gray, Cary, Ames and Frye (now the global behemoth DLA Piper). I received invaluable experience but ultimately realized I didn’t want to represent the types of clients we were taking – I wanted to represent real people.
Over the years, this desire to represent people has taken many forms, and I’ve had a breadth of meaningful experience. But my intentional focus on helping people has remained constant.
We go up against some of the biggest companies in the world who hire the best lawyers they can and work tirelessly to not have to do what is right for their employees or customers. They have unlimited funds and layers of people protecting and enabling their interests.
I take them on because I know their schemes and I want to empower the people they take advantage of.
When the time comes, I relish going to trial to present the true story to a jury.
I’ve litigated hundreds, if not thousands, of cases, but we’re always willing to go the distance to trial. I’ve tried over 40 jury trials – including multiple class action cases involving thousands of plaintiffs – and have obtained more than $500 million in awards for my clients.
The best part about these cases, of course, is creating lasting, tangible change for our clients and their entire families. Those results are more important to me than all the awards I have ever received.

Outside of the office, I love spending time with my family and our dogs. I like working around the house, gardening, and tending to my bee hives. People might be surprised to know that I play competitive chess. I’m also an amatuer woodworker, enjoy golf, skiing, and swimming in the ocean in front of a wonderful sunset.
